The Necessity of Wearing Laser Safety Goggles

Laser by emitting a concentrated straight beam is being taken good advantages of. Once it shines a targeted object, almost all power is focusing on the little dot it stops. That is also the reason why it is not allowed to point at human’s eyes.

Laser safety is classified into four classes by wavelength and maximum output power into four classes and a few subclasses. Seen from output power only, one can easily find out that only the maximum power less than 1mW is relatively safe, which means one can see a laser with the naked eye or with the aid of typical magnifying optics in Class I only. Once the output power of laser pointer reaches Class IIIB (begins from 5mW), there would be temporary or permanent blindness to human’s eyes. And the higher the power, the more danger the laser is. It is not kidding that a 100mW laser pointer can burn one’s retina within second, and which can’t be cured forever.
There are also some shoddy laser pointers which emits much more invisible IR laser than actual visible laser beam, while as IR laser is invisible, people can’t notice it until big harm occurs. It would be too late to take curative action.

Seen from above, we can easily reach a decision that some protective thing need to be done. A pair of laser safetygoggles is no doubt the one who can meet the need. Laser safety goggles works by blocking or minimizing the harm of laser radiation and laser reflection to human’s eyes.
Like normal goggles, the only differences are the lens and frame. Laser safety goggles’ lens are made from particular material which is able to prevent laser hazardous projecting eyes, and the frame is covered fully of eyes which can do a very good protection by such design.
No matter what you done, safety is the first thing to consider. Remember to wear a pair of laser safety goggles when operating laser products.
