Never Shine A Laser Pointer Upwards

There are hundreds of aircrafts incidents caused by laser pointer all over the world every year. According to the law, it is not allowed to shine a laser pointer upwards preventing any aviation incident.

Laser pointer is a powerful light concentrated gadget which can emits laser beam for hundreds of meters distance at least due to the low divergence and bright visibility. Few people have no aware that the laser beam can travel at unlimited distance if it is not stopped by things or absorbed by air. In addition, the divergence does exist, one can't notice it until in a far away distance by checking the laser spot. Once a man points a 5mW laser pointer at an aircraft several hundreds meters away, the small laser spot would be so big that it even can illuminate the whole cabin. The higher the power, the longer distance it travels. It is also very dangerous even the distance between laser pointer operator and aircraft. The laser beam travels in light’s speed, it runs so fast that the pilot has no idea what it is, the first reaction is to avoid it from shining him; once his eyes is hit by the strong visibility beam, temporary blindness would happen, the aircraft would be lost control. One can never image how severe aircraft incident it might cause.

There are news of aviation incidents every day, some suspects shine laser pointer upwards for fun in order to see how far away distance it travels and hit helicopter by coincident, while others realize the object he is aiming is an aircraft but full of fluke mind that he can’t be found to do so. While one must acknowledge no one can escape from the advanced technology of GPS and monitoring system. The sentence by shining a laser pointer to aircraft is at least five year in prison and USD $10,000 fines. One must be fully realize that it is to put all crew in danger just by his misusing of laser pointer for fun.

Laser pointer do provide much convenience for human being’s working and life by make it more efficient and colorful, while the misusing of it also bring much harm to human’s daily life. Never shine a laser pointer upwards in purpose.
